Social support at school

Social work at the basic school

The medical-social-school team is at the disposal of parents for any question relating to their child's health, school and social integration.

An appointment can be requested at any time with the social worker or the social hygiene assistant of the medical-social-school team of the school attended by the child.

On request, social services are organised in the communes to listen to children, parents, teachers and any other professional concerned.

In accordance with article 4 of the amended Act of 2 December 1987 regulating school medicine, the purpose of school medicine is to collaborate on social tasks in close liaison with school boards and specialized services of the National Education system, such as guidance services, medical-psycho-educational boards and school psychology and guidance services, by drawing up a social assessment of the pupil if necessary, ensuring follow-up and, where appropriate, assisting the child so that he or she can benefit effectively from the measures proposed.
In the interest of the health and educational situation of the pupil, the medical-social-school teams collaborate with the school boards and the specialized services of the National Education (Art. 8).
